Use cases for built-in waste bins

Built-in waste containers are becoming increasingly popular to store garbage for recycling. This is mainly due to the difference that built-in bins make compared to free-standing bins, both from a practical and an aesthetic point of view. Our built-in bins make optimal use of the available space in a kitchen, because they disappear inconspicuously in your kitchen cabinet or under the counter, usually in the cupboard under your sink, and thus look neat in a tidy kitchen. Open the door, pull them out as a cabinet drawer, and experience how quietly the soft close slide works.

Environmental protection through storage and recycling

Separating waste has been a necessary part of everyday life for several years now. The kitchen, in particular, produces a lot of waste, which has to be separated due to its different characteristics. HAILO's pre-assembled (only 4 screws to install) kitchen bins make this waste separation child's play. Our full pull-out EcoLine Design L model in particular, with two removable inner bins, is an excellent waste separation system. Some of our HAILO waste bins are available in a variety of colors.

Where to hide your waste container

Even in the most stylish, modern kitchens, there is typically little free space left for free-standing garbage organizers or waste bins, so the space-saving benefits of built-in solutions are needed. The HAILO soft close storage bins and waste containers can be integrated with the kitchen furniture. They are easy to install and fit smoothly in the kitchen cabinet, under the sink, or can be also used as door mounts under the counter. They slide out or open with the cabinet door due to the HAILO hands-free full-extension slides. Our waste bins offer different capacities depending on the requirements: these start at 4 gallons and range up to 7.4 gallons with two kitchen bins.

The special features of our built-in waste bins

Space-saving installation in base units

In-cabinet and mounted kitchen bins are extremely practical for the modern kitchen. As the name suggests, built-in waste containers are not free-standing in the kitchen but are installed in kitchen base units (often under the sink, behind a kitchen cabinet door). HAILO's built-in waste containers come with ball-bearing pullouts and are always hidden in the kitchen storage, which saves a lot of space. The concealed waste bins also keep unpleasant odors at bay with their lids. The bathroom and the living room can also house a hidden recycling bin in a cabinet.

Opening methods

The different waste bin models open their lids differently. The lid of our Compact Box opens using the swivel technology when a cupboard door is opened and closes firmly when the cabinet door is closed. This technique guarantees easy filling and removal of the inner bin. Furthermore, there are waste bins with manual full-extension pull-out. As the name suggests, these open their lids as soon as the sliding mechanism of the kitchen waste container is pulled out by hand (the compartment's reduced size enables more space for the sink). This opening variant is found in the EcoLine Design and our Multi-Box (both available in white, Stainless, and other lively colors). Quickly open the drawer, pull out the single or double recycling bin containers and you can take out the contents of the pull-out trash can in no time.

Flexible installation of waste containers

No matter how you want to position our built-in waste containers in your cupboard or cabinet, some of our models can be mounted anywhere you like: on the right, left, or in the middle of your cabinet door. When installing the waste bins, however, pay attention to the dimensions: while our EcoLine Design L can already be mounted on hinge-door base units from 10 inches in width, our Compact-Box M, made of stainless steel or sheet steel, can only be mounted from a width of 15.7 inches. When planning the right positioning of the waste container, don't forget to take the drawers, under-sink space, and kitchen cabinet dimensions into consideration.

Recycling-ready bin liners

No matter which cabinet-ready recycle bin you choose (all available with soft-close slides), we offer you a large selection of perfectly fitting, heavy-duty bin liners in different gallon sizes. Our bin liners are particularly tear-resistant, therefore, they also fit nicely any compost bins. They are equally suitable for household and kitchen waste (even recyclable garbage or wood). Made of high-quality polyethylene plastic, they decompose groundwater-neutral in landfills. During incineration, the foil combines with oxygen to form natural substances such as water (H2O) and carbon dioxide (CO2).
